Comments Regarding
my Materials Work:
- Over time, I have searched for and found a variety of
materials and adhesives that are resistant to strong acids and, in the
course of my studies, I have gradually become familiar with quite a
few common and less common engineering materials.

- Though there is quite a bit of information on the Web about any type or
class of material you could wish for, it seems difficult to find omnibus
overview references that categorize materials by their chemical family
and then also give the more common associated industrial trade names. So ... I made up my own adhesive, sealing and structural material
"genus, phylum and species" lists.

- Also, for many years I had a
small company specializing in the measurement of ultrasound and acoustic
transducers and the making and characterization of related materials.
I have a relatively well equipped laboratory and am able to characterize the
mechanical, magnetic, electric, acoustic and optical properties of diverse
materials. This capability is turning out to be quite helpful in
support of finite element analysis ( FEA ) work that I do using flexPDE.
