- Here are the few patents that I
and my colleagues have obtained:

Comments Regarding
Patent Work:
- Over the course of time I have been a named inventor on four patents.
On three of these patents I was either the principal or the only inventor.
Many other patents could have been applied for but often the markets for the
invention were so small that I didn't think the costs of patenting would
ever be paid back by subsequent licensing or product sales.
-
- In several cases, I didn't pursue the invention
in any form. In other cases,
I just went ahead and manufactured and sold the patentable devices ... thus letting
their embodied innovation become part of the public domain. This turned out
to be a reasonable strategy for the low volume, high margin, direct sale and
direct distribution markets I was typically addressing.
-
- When the market for an invention
is thought to be large, the profit strategy is different. If the
envisioned product has low cost, low margin and would be sold, in high
volume, through established distribution channels, patenting and licensing
to established industry leaders is the best way to go.
