Comments Regarding my Optical Design and Analysis Work:

Over the years I have occasionally done optical design work of one kind or another.  I designed a high intensity infrared light emitting diode ( LED ) array as a key part of an exotic electrochemical porous silicon etching cell.  The cell was used for fabricating porous silicon wafers for a MEMS based fuel cell system.

I designed a unique acousto-optic interferometer for making absolute calibrations of ultrasound field intensity. I received a small NIH grant for executing this design.

More recently, I have designed various bubble or gas fraction detecting sensor systems that are optical in nature. I have started to spread my finite element modeling wings by making an FEA model of the non-linear self focusing of propagating monochromatic Gaussian beams.

I have also done a fair amount of work designing a couple of interesting fiber optic coupled laser welding heads for fusion bonding thermoplastic polymeric materials.
